SNOOKER & BILLIARD REPORT – WEEK ENDING 25th OCTOBER 2019

SNOOKER REPORT TUESDAY 22ND OCTOBER 2019

PRINCESS GARDEN snooker handicap league.

James Martin of Tower Pocket Rockets, playing as the last man in the last frame, with the last ball on the table pots the black to save the dreaded whitewash.

Services Short Cue Wonders 5-3 St Brelade Steelers
Robbie Kilpatrick (0) won against Gary Boschat (14)
Ryan Swann (42) lost to Sean McDonald (-7)
Carl Donkin (14) won against Karl Le Fevre (-21)
Paul Destro (28) drew with Steve Thomas (0)
Robbie Kilpatrick was in a hurry in beating Gary Boschat 2-0.
By the time St Brelades Sean McDonald turned up at 7:15 to play second, their two frames were already finished. McDonald was giving away 49 points per frame against Ryan Swann and needed 9 snookers in the first frame with one red left on the table. A combination of fouls from snookers and free balls saw McDonald win a frame on the pink that looked incredibly unlikely. The second frame was just as tight with McDonald nicking it on the black.
Karl Le Fevre was unlucky to lose his first frame against Carl Donkin but Donkin took the second easily to put Services 4-2 up.
Steve Thomas was on last against Paul Destro. Thomas played well to take the first frame closing the gap to one frame but Paul Destro also played well in the last frame of the night to win the match for Services to inflict the westerners first defeat but remain top.
Services move to equal second, one point off the lead.

Tower Beans 2-4 St Lawrence Miniature Rifle Club (to be completed)
David Ferre (21) drew with David Proctor (7) both players winning their respective frame on the pink
Stephen Rive (35) drew with Jordan Proctor (35) both comfortable winners in their respective frame win
Andy Richardson (-7) lost to Andre Bonjour (35) giving away 42 start is always difficult to play catch up and this turned out to be the case for Andy on this occasion with Andre ending up being a comfortable winner in both frames.

St Thomas’ Tower 3-5 Mechanics Snatchers
Connor Davies (-21) won against Gary Britton (-63) Connor had a 42 point start in each frame, and from the frame scores it would appear Gary Britton was not at his best as he was well beaten in both frames
Bob Denison (21) lost to Jeremy Gogan (-7) Jeremy a comfortable winner in the first and won the second on the pink.
Andrew Vibert (28) lost to Guy Heys (7) Guy Heys wins his two frames for the first time in over a year, having previously lost eighteen frames in a row
John Baudains (42) drew with Ross Symes (-35) John won the first on the pink with Ross winning the second on the black

Vinchelez 2-4 Tower Pirates (to be completed)
Alastair Simon (14) lost to Stephen Morgan (7) Despite having a 7 point head start Alastair was well beaten in both frames.
Fran Savarese (28) lost to Stephen Wilson (28) Stephen was a comfortable winner in the first and won the second on the pink.
Phil Romeril (-7) won against Tony Le Poidevin (-7) both starting on the same handicap you would expect to have two close frames, but Phil was a comfortable winner in both With other results going against them, Vinchelez slip to the bottom of the league

Mechanics B 3-1 St Aubin Warriors (to be completed)
Bob Rondel (42) won against Chris Blampied (14) Bob was a comfortable winner in the first and started well in the second making a 22 to eventually win on the pink.
Sam Duncan (42) drew with Aaron Canavan (-63) in the first Aaron made a 45 and 22 and was unfortunate on several occasions, he went in off the last red to leave Sam with an easy pot, it looked as if Aaron was going to clear the last four colours but when potting brown into the middle bag the white went up and down the table at high speed and into the green pocket, still needing the last two colours to win, he played a safety shot on the pink only to see it hit the jaw of the middle bag and go towards the green bag for Sam to clinch the frame. The second saw Aaron making a 54 and 24 to win on the pink.

Mechanics A 7-1 Tower Pocket Rockets
Paul Bradbury (42) won against Daniel Cavey (0) Paul won both frames on the black
Bob Salkeld (35) won against Ryan Yates (14) Bob was a comfortable winner in the first and won the second on the black
Lloyd Letherbarrow (42) won against Nathan Piziura (7) Lloyd a comfortable winner in the first and won the second on the pink, inflicting Nathan’s first loss.
Phil Papworth (28) drew with James Martin (7) Phil was a very comfortable winner in the first with James winning the final frame of the night on the black to save the whitewash and keep is unbeaten record. Rockets lose for the first time, a win, would have taken them to the top of the league, as it is this result has catapulted the Mechanics A team from 11th to 5th place.
Only two weeks ago Mechanics were themselves on the receiving end of a 7-1 defeat.
