SNOOKER & BILLIARD REPORT – WEEK ENDING 15th NOVEMBER 2019

SNOOKER REPORT TUESDAY 12TH NOVEMBER 2019

PRINCESS GARDEN snooker handicap league.
Top two teams, St Thomas’ Tower and St Brelade Steelers both lose at home but remain 1st and 2nd respectively and so Tower keep their 4 point advantage at the top. Only one team in the top six won this week, namely St Lawrence Miniature Rifle Club against St Aubin Warriors who have now won their last 4 games 5-3
Connor Davies remains top of the frame winners table with 16 from 18 and four players sharing second place, Robbie Kilpatrick, Bob Rondel, Stephen Morgan and Bob Salkeld each with 13 from 18

St Brelade Steelers 3-5 Vinchelez
Gary Boschat (14) won against Fran Savarese (28)
Sean McDonald (-7) lost to Stuart Simon (42)
Karl Le Fevre (-21) lost to Alastair Simon (14)
Steve Thomas (0) drew with Phil Romeril (-7).

St Brelade Steelers suffered their second defeat in as many weeks after Vinchelez recovered from losing the first two frames to win the next 5 only for Steve Thomas to in the final frame on the black preventing a second 6-2 defeat for the westerners.
Gary Boschat got the home team off to the perfect start by beating Fran Savarese.
Sean McDonald who was giving away 49 start per frame to Stuart just couldn’t claw back the deficit to win either frame although McDonald did go in off the final black in the second frame to hand that one to Stuart Simon.
Next up was Karl Le Fevre against Alastair Simon. Alastair played some nice stuff but did also have a 35 point cushion in each frame and with the run of the balls on his side made it nigh on impossible for Le Fevre to get close and ended being a comfortable winner in both. After the bad start to the season Alastair has now won his last 6 frames.
Phil Romeril took the first frame against Steve Thomas only for Thomas to pot the final black to keep his unbeaten record going and to keep the score a bit more respectable. In winning his frame Steve made a 48. First consecutive win for Vinchelez who now move off the bottom and go up 3 places to ninth

St Thomas’ Tower 3-5 Mechanics B
Bob Denison (21) lost to Bob Rondel (42) Bob Rondel was a comfortable winner in the second and continues his good start to the season having only dropped 5 frames. Connor Davies (-21) drew with Bob Proper (42) Connor won the first on the black assisted during the frame with a 40 with Bob being a comfortable winner in the second. Connor remains top of the frame winners league.
Herbie Bruggraber (28) drew with Richard Corbett (42) Richard won the first on the black, Herbie winning the second on the pink.
John Baudains (42) drew with Jerry Le Brocq (35) John was a comfortable winner in the first with a break of 23 but lost the second on the black

Tower Beans 4-4 Mechanics A
John Mahoney (35) drew with Paul Bradbury (42) John was a comfortable winner in the first with Paul winning his frame on the black
Aubrey Rive (14) lost to Bob Salkeld (35) Bob made the most of his 21 start in each frame to be a comfortable winner in both and is equal second in the frame winners table.
Andy Richardson (-7) drew with Ernie Bird (42) giving a 49 start is always difficult to play catch up but Andy managed it to win the first frame but was not able to repeat it in the second to just lose on the black
Stephen Rive (35) won against Phil Papworth (28) Stephen outplayed Phil in both frames.

Services Short Cue Wonders 4-4 Tower Pocket Rockets
Robbie Kilpatrick (0) drew with Daniel Cavey (0) with both players on the same handicap you expect the frames to be close, the first was, with Daniel winning on the pink. The second was a complete contrast with Robbie winning a very comfortable frame. Robbie is equal second in the frame winners table together with 3 other players.
Ryan Swann (42) won against Nathan Piziura (7) Ryan won the first on the black despite Nathan making a 33 and a comfortable winner in the second.
Lee Travers (7) drew with James Martin (7) both players starting on the same handicap resulted in two close frames Lee winning the first on the pink and James winning the second on the black to keep is unbeaten record despite Lee having a 38.
Carl Donkin (14) lost to Ryan Yates (14) Ryan was a comfortable winner in the first and won the second on the pink with the help of a 38.

St Lawrence Miniature Rifle Club 5-3 St Aubin Warriors
Andre Bonjour (35) drew with Byron Le Cornu (42) Andre won the first on the pink with Byron a comfortable winner in the second
David Proctor (7) won against Robert Le Moel (35) Robert just needed the blue in the first but David cleared the last three colours to win on the black and was a comfortable winner in the second.
Martin Houguez (35) won against Aaron Canavan (-63) Aaron was giving the maximum start in each frame of 84. Giving such a start you sometimes need a bit of extra help from the rub of the green which unfortunately went against Aaron at crucial times. In the first with the last three remaining colours Aaron needed three snookers which he duly got but when playing a safety on the blue left it near middle bag for a relieved Martin to pot and clinch the frame. During the frame Aaron made a 24 and 30. In the second Aaron made a 39 but with Martin playing well within his ability made it difficult for his opponent and at the end Martin made sure of the frame with a 25 clearance.
Pat Patterson (21) lost to Rene Turmel (42) Pat had home advantage but as with Aaron’s game the table was not kind to him in either frame for Rene to win comfortably.

Mechanics Snatchers 4-2 Tower Pirates (to be completed)
Gary Britton (-63) won against Tony Le Poidevin (-7) A similar pattern occurred in both frames. In the first with 3 or 4 reds left and the frame scores very close, Gary made a 46 clearance. In the second Gary made a 49 and again with 3 or 4 reds left and the scores very close Gary made another 46 clearance.
Ross Symes (-35) lost to Stephen Morgan (7) Ross was giving away a 42 start in each frame which is always a difficult task to claw back against any player and made more difficult when playing against a player who has only lost once. This turned out to be the case with Stephen winning comfortably. Ross had a break of 35. Stephen is now equal second in the frame winners table with 3 other players.
Jeremy Gogan (-7) won against Ben Garnier (42) Jeremy was giving a 49 start in each frame and to have a chance needed to be at his best. This Jeremy succeeded to do in both, especially in the first winning it 105-64
