SNOOKER & BILLIARD REPORT – WEEK ENDING 29TH NOVEMBER 2019

SNOOKER REPORT TUESDAY 26TH NOVEMBER 2019

PRINCESS GARDEN snooker handicap league.

We are now half way through the season.
St Thomas’ Tower remain top, two points clear with 2 frames still to play, from St Brelade Steelers who maintained their recent good form with a 6-2 win against Mechanics A.
Tower Pocket Rockets achieved their best result so far with a 7-1 victory over Mechanics B to move them into fourth place from seventh
Leading frame winners are Connor Davies 18 out of 22 and Stephen Morgan 16 out of 22. Highest break 105 by Ross Symes

St Brelade Steelers 6-2 Mechanics A
Gary Boschat (14) won against Paul Bradbury (42)
Sean McDonald (-7) drew with Bob Salkeld (35)
Karl Le Fevre (-21) won against Ernie Bird (42)
Steve Thomas (0) drew with Phil Papworth (28)

Gary Boschat made it 6 frames out of his last 6 in beating Paul Bradbury. Boschat had a 25 break in the first frame and potted some excellent balls winning it on the pink. The second frame was a little scrappy from both players but the St Brelade cueist took it once again by potting the final pink.
Sean McDonald was next on against Bob Salkeld. The first frame proved to be a tight affair with Salkeld winning it on the black. McDonald hit back in the second frame to put the Westerners 3-1 up at the halfway point aided by an excellent 51 break and ran out a comfortable winner.
Karl Le Fevvre was up next against Ernie Bird and Le Fevre was giving away 63 points per frame. Ernie knocked in a fine 20 break which gave him a very handy 45 lead with just 3 reds left in the first frame and looked like he was destined to win it. But Le Fevre dug in and played a couple of excellent snookers which helped him claw his way back into it and eventually won it on the final black by amassing 108 points.
Le Fevre was cueing beautifully by now and made a solid 43 break in the second frame and took it quite comfortably.
On last was Steve Thomas for St Brelade and Phil Papworth for Mechanics. Papworth managed to keep Thomas at arms length in the first and took it on the blue. However, Thomas rallied in the last frame of the night and produced the biggest break of the match with a fantastic 65 to win the match 6-2 for St Brelade and keep them in second place.

Tower Pocket Rockets 7-1 Mechanics B
Daniel Cavey (0) won against Richard Corbett (42) Daniel played well, being a comfortable winner in the first despite having to give a 42 start, the second was a bit closer with Daniel winning on the pink.
Nathan Piziura (7) won against Bob Proper (42) Nathan won the first on the black and a comfortable winner in the second.
Ryan Yates (14) drew with Bob Rondel (42) both comfortable winners in their respective frame win
James Martin (7) won against Jerry Le Brocq (35) James won the first on the black and a comfortable winner in the second. James is one of only two players who have yet to loose a match

Vinchelez 5-3 St Aubin Warriors
Stuart Simon (42) won against Byron Le Cornu (42) Both had their moments of good play but it was Stuart who was a bit more consistent with his potting to pinch the first on the pink when it looked more likely he would lose it and was a comfortable winner in the second
Fran Savarese (28) drew with Robert Le Moel (35) in the first Robert could do no wrong, every time he potted a red he would pot a colour, with a few breaks in the tens and with Fran missing some of his opportunities Robert ran out a comfortable winner. In the second Robert was 27 in front with 27 remaining and looked odds on to win it, Fran managed to get a couple of snookers and gained 12 points in fouls, Fran would then go on to win the frame by firstly, potting the first three colours (fluking the green) and when Robert failed to pot the blue Fran made the 18 clearance to pinch the frame on the black.
Alastair Simon (14) drew with Chris Blampied (14) Alastair was in a good run of form having won his last 8 frames, this continued when he took the first on the pink. Both had their good and bad moments in the second but it was Chris who managed to get the upper hand on the colours.
Phil Romeril (-7) drew with Aaron Canavan (-63) although only making a couple of small breaks, a 13 and 21, together with his 56 start was enough for Phil to secure the first frame as Aaron had fallen too far behind to catch up and conceded. In the second Aaron was on the verge of making a century when he just failed to pot a long pink into the yellow pocket when on 85. There was still enough on the table for Phil to win, but eventually with only 18 left on the table Phil in turn conceded.

St Thomas’ Tower 4-2 Tower Pirates (to be completed)
Bob Denison (21) won against Tony Le Poidevin (-7) Bob was a comfortable winner in the first and won the second on the black.
Connor Davies (-21) lost to Stephen Morgan (7) Connor has played well from the start of the season having only previously dropped 2 frames but came against an inform Stephen who took full control over both frames to inflict Connor’s first defeat.
Herbie Bruggraber (28) won against Ben Garnier (42) Herbie was a comfortable winner in both frames.

Mechanics Snatchers 3-5 Tower Beans
Gary Britton (-63) won against John Mahoney (35) giving away 84 start is always difficult to play catch up, but Gary was in the mood and won the first 110- 91 aided with a break of 66, in the second, Gary carried on with his good form by having breaks of 47 and a 43 clearance to win 109-88, Gary restricted John over the two frames to just 11 points.
Ross Symes (-35) lost to Aubrey Rive (14) Aubrey was a comfortable winner in both
Jeremy Gogan (-7) drew with Stephen Rive (35) Jeremy won the first on the pink and lost the second on the black
Guy Heys (7) lost to David Ferre (21) David was a comfortable winner in the first and won the second on the black. Only second win of the season for the current champions who currently lie in 9th place, this time last year Tower were top of the league 11 points ahead of the second place team. What a difference a year makes!

Services Short Cue Wonders 5-3 St Lawrence Miniature Rifle Club
Ryan Swann (42) won against Jordan Proctor (35) Ryan played well in both potting some good balls, Jordan didn’t get many chances when at the table to lose only his second match.
Curt Tindall (28) drew with David Proctor (7)
Curt played well in the first making steady small breaks to win on the pink but David picked up his game in the second to win it comfortably.
Lee Travers (7) won against Martin Houguez (35) Lee played a good first frame winning it on the black after getting a good snooker behind the pink and getting 13 points in fouls, the second was a bit more comfortable for Lee
Paul Destro (35) lost to Andre Bonjour (35) Paul was unlucky in both frames rattling balls in the pockets that would normally be potted and with Andre playing well and taking his chances when at the table ended being a comfortable winner in both.
