SNOOKER REPORT TUESDAY 21ST JANUARY 2020
PRINCESS GARDEN snooker handicap league.
Wow!, what a start to the second half of the season.
Amazing match played at St Aubin between Aaron Canavan of St Aubin Warriors and Phil Papworth of Mechanics A.
Aaron was giving Phil an 84 start in each frame and won the first with a break of 38 and a 27 clearance, limiting Phil to potting just one red.
But the second frame was incredible Phil managed to score 24 points in two visits which added to his 84 start left Aaron with a mountain to climb as there wasn’t enough reds left on the table (6 left) to win the frame, especially after he missed a couple of important colours after potting reds prior to Phil scoring. Aaron wanted to keep the last red on the table but when on a break of 39 in trying to get a snooker accidentally potted it.
Aaron was now 44 points behind with just 27 remaining, needing 5 snookers.
Gradually one by one Aaron was getting snookers which at times were brilliantly made and very difficult for Phil to get out of. To make matters worse, during the course of trying to get snookers Aaron actually went in off the yellow and would therefore in turn require an extra snooker. Amazingly Aaron eventually managed to get a total of 47 points in fouls on just the yellow and was now only 1 point behind with all the colours still remaining, needing up to and including the pink to clinch the frame.
This he did in style as he did in the first frame with a 27 clearance.
