SNOOKER & BILLIARD REPORT – WEEK ENDING 13TH MARCH 2020

SNOOKER REPORT TUESDAY 10TH MARCH 2020

PRINCESS GARDEN snooker handicap league.
For the second week in a row we have another whitewash.
St. Lawrence Miniature Rifle Club are the third team to achieve this in the last four weeks.
Reported last week that the league title was likely to be decided between Services Short Cue Wonders & St Aubin Warriors because there were only four weeks left to play and third place teams were ten points adrift, may now have been a bit premature.
With an 8-0 victory St Lawrence Miniature Rifle Club have suddenly put themselves in the running as both teams above them lost 5-3.
The gap has been reduced to just 5 points and with two more frames to play from an outstanding match, could close gap to just three points.
Leaders St Aubin Warriors actually face St Lawrence in the next match, so this result will have a strong bearing on the outcome of who might win the league.

St. Brelade Steelers 4-4 St Thomas’ Tower
Gary Boschat (14) drew with Bob Denison (21)
Sean McDonald (-7) won against Connor Davies (-28)
Steve Thomas (0) lost to Andrew Vibert (28)
Karl Le Fevre (-21) drew with Herbie Bruggraber (28)
Gary Boschat & Bob Denison shared the opening frames of the night after re-racking their first frame after the black got tied up with a bunch of reds over a pocket and neither player being able to break this pack open.
Sean McDonald won his 2 frames for the first time in the second half of the season against Connor Davies. McDonald played solidly but also took advantage of Connor missing more shots than usual.
Steve Thomas was on next against Andrew Vibert. Andrew potted some good balls in the first frame to win comfortably, Thomas should probably have won the second frame only to lose on the black.
Karl Le Fevre was on last against Herbie Bruggraber, Herbie winning the first fairly comfortably. karl came out firing on all cylinders in the final frame of the night and potted some unbelievable balls to win it by 96 points to 67.
The final score of 4-4 was just about right on the night.

Tower Beans 4-4 Vinchelez
John Mahoney (35) drew with Stuart Simon (42)
Both comfortable winners in their respective frame win
Stephen Rive (35) drew with Fran Savarese (35)

In the second Andy made a 24 but Phil ran out a comfortable winner with the help of a 28

Services Short Cue Wonders 3-5 Mechanics B
Curt Tindall (21) drew with Bob Rondel (42)
Lee Travers (7) drew with Paul Bullock (35)
Robbie Kilpatrick (-7) lost to Sam Duncan (42)
Ryan Swann (32) drew with Richard Corbett (42)
Curt was unlucky in the first missing a few easy pots which Bob took full advantage of.
In getting the second frame Curt played some good safety play which lead to Bob being in a few good snookers and giving away numerous fouls.

Lee played well in the first frame taking points where he could.
In the second frame Paul got a fluky snooker which gave him 12 extra points which lead to him taking the frame.

Robbie giving away 49 points was on this occasion too hard to pull back and was well beaten in the first. Played a lot better in the second only to eventually loose on the black with Sam clearing the last three colours to win it by one point
Ryan won the first after a good safety battle on the black lasting around 10 mins
Second frame Richard played very well having some good table time making little mini breaks to run out a comfortable winner.
Only third win of the season for Mechanics B
