Latest News 24th February 2023

Hi All

The season in both the snooker and billiards is nearing to the end, but lots going on at present. Here is the latest update.

In the Snooker league with only 3 match weeks left,  only 6 points now covers the top 5 teams. However, there are some matches and frames still to be played which are as follows:

Snooker League

Match Week 15                 Mechs A v Tower Pirates               A.N.Other to play Steve Wilson

Match Week 18                St Aubins v St Brelade                    Byron Le Cornu v Sean MacDonald

Match Week 18                 Tower Pirates v St Lawrence       Entire match to be played.

Due to the league probably going down to the last night of the season to decide the winner, to keep it fair on all teams involved,  these games will need to be completed by and reported to me so I can update the league table no later than Sunday March 12th 2023. Failure to do so will mean the games will be null and void and no points awarded to either team.

Billiard League

Only 1 match outstanding which was Match week 9 between Services and Tower Tree. Only have 1 of the three games reported to me.

Snooker Knockout

In the snooker knockout this week, St Brelade’s beat St Thomas Tower by 11 points with Sean Macdonald potting the final black of a closely fought match to win it. There was a one-sided scoreline in the Mechanics Derby with the B team winning 726 to 475 with Paul Bullock scoring over 200 points! St Lawrence beat St Aubin with a good last leg performance by Dave Proctor to seal the win. And finally Services are leading Tower Pirates by 154 with Lee Travers to play Ben Garnier.

This game needs to be played before Sunday 19th March in order that it gives notice to Mechanics B to where they will be playing on 21st March.

The Island Snooker semi-finals have been finalized. The matches will be played on Thursday 2nd March at First Tower with Aaron Canavan v Peter Robinson at 7pm and Karl Le Fevre v Ryan Swann at 9pm.Please come and support the boys if you can. The final is on the 16th March at 7pm, again at First Tower.

The first Island Billiards semi-final is Aaron Canavan v Martyn Le Gallais and Richard De La Haye/ Brett Campbell v Guy Heys. Aaron v Martyn is on Sunday 26th Feb whilst second semi final is to be arranged once the quarter has been played. The date of the final is to be arranged but I will notify everyone on the Website when confirmed.

In the Snooker pairs there is one quarter final to be played. This should be played next week once Byron recovers from his minor accident last week.

In the Byfleet and Rive the following games are still outstanding and need to be reported to me or played by the 28th February:

Byfleet – Dave Proctor v Steve Wilson

Steve Morgan v Guy Heys (playing this Monday).

Rive –     Jordan Proctor v Guy Heys (playing this Saturday)

Any problems please let me know.
