Jersey come up short in the Upton Snooker in Guernsey

Guernsey continued their dominance in the Snooker Upton – now classed as a ‘B’ inter insular. An 11-5 victory was fully deserved in a landmark match held across all four tables at the Ex-Service Club. With Jersey fielding 11-year-old Archie Greir, the JBSA would kindly like to thank the GBSA and more especially the Ex Service Club for gaining a special licence dispensation to enable Archie to play in the Upton in Guernsey.

In the first round of matches, jersey lost 3 frames to 1 with our only success being Danny Brannan who beat Guernsey’s Danny Marquand 55 – 16.

However in the 2nd quarter of matches, Jersey turned the form around, with Ryan Swann, Peter Robinson and Archie Greir all winning their matches, making the overall score 4 – 4.

The 3rd quarter of matches unfortunately resulted in Guernsey winning all 4 matches, making the overall score 8 – 4 to Guernsey, with them now only requiring 1 frame in the last quarter.

And that duly came in the form of Clayton Le Noury who overcame Danny Brannan 73 – 22. Danny Marquand beat Archie, Mark Gauvin beat Peter to make it 11 – 4 before Ryan won his second, and Jersey’s fifth frame to leave the final score 11 – 5 to Guernsey.
