Guernsey win Snooker Inter Insular for first time in 5 years

Played at the Ex-servicemans Club in Guernsey, Jersey played Guernsey in the Snooker Inter Insular last month.

With several of Jersey’s qualified players being unavailable, the Jersey Team of Karl Le Fevre, Matt Cox, Brett Campbell, Robbie Kilpatrick and Lee Travers had the unenviable task of trying to beat the Guernsey Team consisting of Martyn Desperques, Adam Shorto, Paul Le Sauvage, John Skillet and Seb Priaulx.

Unfortunately, Jersey were always behind the black ball and in a one sided game lost the first 9 frames before Brett Campbell won Jersey’s first frames by beating Seb with a well compiled break of 50. Guernsey continued to pile on the points before Karl Le Fevre again beat Seb, making the overall score 12 – 2 to Guernsey.

However Guernsey won the next frame to get to  the winning score of 13 to win the match overall.

The format is to play all the games,  and Guernsey eventually went on to win 22 – 3 which i should imagine will be a record winning margin for some years to come, with Matt Cox winning the third frame for Jersey.

With no Jersey supporters in attendance, it was a very difficult day indeed. However the team conducted themselves with the highest integrity and albeit with delays and cancelled flights, they had an enjoyable weekend, bar the result.
