Canavan retains Masters Title

Aaron Canavan retained his Masters Title on Tuesday 8th April at the Jersey Mechanics by beating Bob Denison 3 – 1 on table 7.

On paper it looked to be a tricky final for Aaron after Bob got to the final by only dropping 1 frame along the way.

In a cagey first frame, with Aaron giving an 84 start per frame he eventually won by 128 – 96, with a 24 break at the end, missing the black for a 31 clearance.

Frame 2 was a messy frame with the colours in awkward positions throughout which meant there was not much action in the way of breaks. However with some lovely safety play, Bob managed to tie the match 1- 1 winning 92 – 51

Frame 3 was a lot more open and Aaron started to get his potting game into gear and with a couple of visits to the table, eventually ran out winning it by 109 – 96 to retake the lead 2-1.

In the fourth and final frame, after a couple of pots by Bob, Aaron got going again and won the final frame 115 – 93, aided with an 87 break, missing the final black.

JBSA Byron Le Cornu presented Aaron with the trophy .

Thanks to Karl Le Fevre for reffing the match.
