Kilpatrick retains Rive Trophy – Just!

The Rive Billiard Final was played at the Jersey Mechanics on Thursday 15th January and it turned out to be close encounter.

Robbie Kilpatrick (reigning champion) took on First Tower’s Peter Robinson with Robbie playing off 120 and Peter 130 in the first to 300.

Peter started off very well and early on scored a 25 break to take the lead by 179 – 151. A 19 break a short time later took Peter past the 200 mark with Robbie trailing by 43.

However, Robbie always kept in close proximity with several breaks in the teens before he closed the gap to 256 – 217 with a nice 23 break.

As the game moved on, Peter established a lead of 288 – 256 before Robbie produced the best break of the night, A 31, to make the scores 288 – 287 in Peter’s favour. With Peter just needing 12 points, he agonisingly made an 11 break, 1 short of the 300 to take the title. And with that miss, Robbie made an unfinished 15 break to win by 300 -299.

President of the JBSA, Richard De La Haye presented Robbie with the trophy and also thanked Howard Smith for reffing, Karl Le Fevre for scoring and organising, Aaron Canavan for preparing the table and The Jersey Mechanics for hosting the final.
